When you live on a planet that has 6,000,000,000 people who have to eat, there’s bound to be some conflict.  Greenpeace is moving fully forward with its latest conservation campaign warning about the dangers of overfishing bluefin tuna.  Greenpeace International Oceans Campaigner, Sari Tolvanen, warns: “If we continue to fish at this rate we are going to empty our oceans.  The tuna industry is fishing itself out of business. I was going through some of my photos today and came across this pic I took last fall (I think late October) here in Montreal while I was walking through Carre Saint-Louis (Saint Louis Square) and it reminded me of the impending season change in store for us.  I love the fall, don’t get me wrong, but here in Montreal the fall (just like the spring) lasts around 2-3 weeks and that’s it.  After the fall comes the dreaded winter hibernation.  Let’s hope this winter won’t be cruel or unusual.

My friend Henry (check out his phenomenal illustration work here) just sent me these incredible photos of a Russian military location deep in the mountains where an array of very sexy telescopes keep an eye on all of Russia’s space vessels, making sure they don’t bump into anything.  I think telescopes are just about the coolest thing on the face of the earth (I someday hope to convert an abandoned one into my country home) and these ones are definitely near the top of the list.  Think Pac Man-meets-Buckminster Fuller.  And the best part: they are sometimes open to visitors.…

The amazing citizenry over at The Playlist just posted this article about Bill Pohlad.  He’s the producer of Terence Malick’s upcoming epic “The Tree Of Life”, which according to Fox Searchlight will be released in 2011.  Terence Malick is a notorious perfectionist and refuses to be pinned-down to release dates.  He has so much respect in the industry, that producers are willing to give him free reign from not just release dates, but even film festivals such as Toronto or Cannes.  From what we’ve heard, “Tree Of Life” is going to blow people’s minds wide open, and we can’t wait. …
