I remember hearing about this film a while back but then it totally disappeared off the radar…just like so many things seem to do.  Then I stumbled upon the trailer for “Between The Folds” and saw it with new eyes.  The most fascinating thing about origami, compared to other arts, is that it is always about a singular piece of paper.  It isn’t added to or taken away from.  What’s more is the ultimate challenge of origami being the continued pursuit of the infinite possibilities of what one flat square can become.  It seems as though the film goes even…

Looks like Blu-Ray is headed in the same direction as the 8-track, the laser disc, and the cassette tape.  Apple, Netflix, and now Microsoft have all pretty much decided they’re parting ways with the technology and moving on to bigger and brighter things. Steve Jobs famously called the high-definition technology as a “bag of hurt”.  Not too sure what he means by that exactly, but we get it Steve.  Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings, recently called the iconic Netflix mail pouch “finite” and is steering his company towards a streaming-only platform.  The freshly-launched Canadian Netflix is a streaming-only business, and Hastings…

I love having things to look forward to and this morning is no exception.  I just found out that Ron Howard is set to direct an adaptation of Jill Bolte Taylor’s mind-blowing memoir “My Stroke Of Insight” which chronicles her journey back from a debilitating stroke.  Deadline Hollywood broke the news this morning: Ron Howard has signed on to the direct the film, and he wants Jodie as his star. But Foster isn’t formally attached at this point.  Howard and his Imagine partner Brian Grazer are producing. The subject matter of the complexities of the human mind puts Howard and Grazer…

I was recently reading a feature article in Entertainment Weekly about the most important documentaries of all time and was pleased to find “The Bible Tells Me So” near the top. “For The Bible Tells Me So” was by Daniel G. Karslake and it deals with homosexuality and its perceived conflict with religion, as well as various interpretations of what the Bible says about same-sex sexuality. It also includes lengthy interview segments with several sets of religious parents (including former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt nd his wife, Jane, and the parents of Bishop V. Gene Robinson) regarding their personal…
