Environmental Graffiti has a crazy article about a glacier in Antarctica where microbes which have been trapped for millions of years under the ice. A fissure has cracked it wide open and it is now gushing the ooze (which is red in color because of its high salinity and high iron content). Phenomenal article in The New York Times about how twenty-five years worth of archaeological mapping was recently redone in a matter of a few days with laser technology. FULL ARTICLE: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/11/science/11maya.html?_r=1&hpw

I think I’ve dragged every friend I possibly can to see this movie. I’ve seen it three times and can’t wait to see it again. Tilda Swinton and director Luca Guadagnino spent 11 years trying to get this film made and every last second of that hard work shows on screen. Hands down one of the best films I’ve seen all year. It will make you want to run to Italy (or at least to a good Italian restaurant). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhbTeBneRVU
