Falling in love can make you feel every possible emotion. Some feel like they’re floating, others say it makes them feel high, others feel butterflies in their stomach, etc. Everyone wants to find that perfect soulmate, but where on earth do you look? Luckily, for singles, there are many ways you can boost your chances. And you’ve come to the right place as we can give you some tips on exactly that. Just a disclaimer, though, if you think you’re happy being single and are still not trying to look for love, don’t feel bad. There’s nothing wrong with that — you do you. But if special occasions or holidays have made you think about finding the one for you, might as well take note of these.

Don’t Just Wait

By now, you’ve probably heard the saying, “You’ll find love when you’re not looking.” While some are just lucky to be able to find love even if they’re not really looking for it, it doesn’t actually work for everyone. Apparently, looking for love is just like a job hunt — you’ll only find one when you make a move and look for it. Some might look at it as being desperate. But just like in finding a job, those who don’t even bother looking for it are unemployed, for the most part. That said, don’t be scared to go out of your comfort zone and start looking. There are over 50 love locations all over the world. You’ll surely find a place where you can meet people who’ll pass your vibe or even build a future with you. Join meet-ups, groups, or whatever you think will help you meet like-minded people. Just remember to take things slowly but surely, especially if you’re looking for a long-term relationship

Seek Partnership

If you’re looking for a long-term relationship, look for a partnership instead and not just romance. You’ve probably heard from the older generation how their feeling of being in love changed over time. Yes, apparently, it happens. Just like the real butterflies, that feeling of being in love, especially the butterflies you feel on your first few dates, eventually die. But, the good news is it’s normal. This is because our body isn’t capable of feeling such intensity for a long time. But that doesn’t mean that you’re not attracted to your partner as you were when you started dating. Your brain just slows down because it can’t keep up with that excitement. For that reason, you’ll need to seek partnership instead if you’re looking for love that will last forever. This is because a partnership is more about proving your feelings. It takes time and trust. Hence, it’s a lot more stable.

Know What You Want

Knowing what you want is important in finding true love. This will help you avoid doing something you’re not comfortable with, such as saying yes to whatever you’re pressured to do. When you know exactly what you’re looking for, needless to say, it’s easier to narrow down your options too. You’ll save your time and effort from those who aren’t worth it.

Know When to Leave

Some people struggle with their relationships because they don’t know when to leave. So, they tend to endure the suffering and hurting more as they choose to stay in the relationship even if the other party isn’t interested anymore. That said, you should know when to leave too. If your date or partner has shown some red flags, don’t wait and just leave. This is because red flags will likely just affect your relationship negatively in the future. If you’re already in a relationship but you feel like it has become toxic, leave.

Of course, at first, it would feel hard on your part, especially if you already like that person. However, once you learn to let go, you’ll have more opportunities to find your true love eventually.

As the saying goes, when one door closes, a window opens. You’ll enjoy your life more once you let go of a toxic person. Additionally, this will save you from future issues such as stress and other problems in the relationship that might even affect your health.

Be Yourself

Finding true love means finding someone who will accept you as you are wholeheartedly. But, how will it be possible if you’re not going to show your true self? Putting your best foot forward during your first few dates sure is normal. However, make sure that you’re not being someone else but yourself. This is because we’re all attracted to authenticity. Besides, if you’ll just pretend to be someone else, how can your potential partner trust you? And speaking of trust, it is one of the keys to building a lasting relationship. So, be sure to show your best self instead of trying to pretend just to look perfect to attract other people.

Beware of the Saying that Opposites Attract

It’s so exciting to see characters from romantic movies and series who have entirely opposite personalities but still are able to attract each other. We’re so used to such a storyline but it still often gives us butterflies whenever we watch them, making us dream more about finding someone who’s also the opposite of us. But, actually, you should be more cautious in finding someone whose personality is a lot different than you. True enough, at first it will feel like you’re in a romantic movie or something. Like on the screens, it’s also exciting.

However, this might cause some issues in your relationship over time. Since you’re too different from each other, you may experience more arguments and other friction points that could negatively affect your relationship. While there’s no harm in trying, don’t forget to understand the risks too.

Finding true love might be hard if you don’t know where and what to look for. But, once you do find it, all the effort, heartbreaks, challenges, and everything in between are worth it. So get out there and start looking! They might be closer than you think.
