Located in the central Mediterranean is Malta, a small archipelago that offers plenty of beaches, lots of sun, and an abundance of attractions. Hot temperatures in the summer are perfect for those looking for a beach holiday, while mild temperatures in the winter are ideal for those that need a break from the cold.

Finding ways to fund your traveling adventures can be challenging sometimes, but a good piece of advice for any trip is to book your flights and accommodations several months in advance. The earlier you make your reservations, the more likely you are to get affordable rates.

If you’re considering a trip to Malta, keep the following tips in mind when deciding where to stay.

Reasons to visit Malta

If you’re not completely sure if you want to visit Malta, take some time to consider why you want to visit the island. Many people that visit Malta want to enjoy a beach holiday, but they also want to experience the rich culture the island has to offer.

Malta has plenty of beaches to choose from. Sandy beaches, such as Mellieha Bay and Golden Bay, are ideal for those that want to lounge on the sand before cooling off in the water.

Rocky beaches, such as Anchor Bay, are perfect for those that want to enjoy the sea but not the sand. The beaches around Malta also make for perfect snorkeling and diving locations.

Malta is much more than a beach holiday, however. Historical locations around the island, such as the Megalithic Temples, reflect the unique history of the island.

And no matter where you want to stay on the island, you’ll discover that there are Malta All Inclusive hotels that will help keep your trip stress-free.

Close to the beach in Mellieha

If your primary reason for visiting Malta is the beach, consider staying in Mellieha. Mellieha is a large town that is located in the northern part of the island.

From Mellieha, you’ll have easy access to Mellieha Bay. Mellieha Bay is Malta’s largest sandy beach. Shallow, crystal clear waters are great for families with young children. More advanced swimmers will enjoy the chance to shore dive.

There are a few other beaches around Mellieha, including Paradise Bay, Armier Bay, and Slugs Bay. There are also plenty of restaurants to choose from, so after a day out in the sun, you can grab a bite to eat.

Hotels to consider in Mellieha include the Solana Hotel and the Ramla Bay Resort. You can easily walk to the beach from either hotel.

Learn about history in Valletta

If your primary reason for wanting to visit Malta is to experience the island’s rich cultural history, stay in Valletta. Valletta is the capital of Malta and is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Valletta was founded by the Knights of St John in the 16th century. Since then, multiple rulers and governments have added their own constructions to the city.

When you stay in Valletta, you’ll have access to historical sites such as Saint John’s Co-Cathedral. You can also visit the museums that are in the area, including the National Museum of Archaeology, which contains artifacts from the Megalithic Temples of Malta.

A benefit of staying in Valletta is that it is central to the island. Public transportation can take you to other major cities in Malta.

Stay in the resort town of Sliema

If you’re planning on hitting the beach during the day and partying hard at night, consider staying in Sliema, the commercial district of the island.

During the day, you can visit the rocky beaches surrounding Sliema or head up to Mellieha Bay. Once you’re done with the beach, you can head back to Sliema to go shopping or to visit a restaurant.

The nightlight in Sliema offers the perfect mixture of chill bars and lively clubs. If you want to grab a beer and watch some sports, you can. Or if you’d rather grab a drink and dance the night away, you can.

No matter if you’re traveling as an individual, going on your honeymoon, or trying to make family memories, Sliema is one area you’ll want to consider if you’re a social butterfly.
