Why is it that some people’s brains remain in relatively great condition as they age, whereas others seem to deteriorate towards increasing levels of dementia? That’s exactly the question that Dr. Daniel Mandell and his research team at the University Health Network of Toronto are attempting to answer with their work, and recently they announced they took a major step closer to solving the mystery. As you will see in UHN’s fascinating 16-week timelapse video above, by using two different MRI scanning techniques on each patient’s brain they were able to solve a huge part of the mystery of what is likely the biggest cause of age-related brain decay.
