The Pritzker Prize is given each year to “honor a living architect whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture.”  This year’s winner if Japanese architect, Shigeru Ban, whose extraordinary architectural is nothing short of genius.  Shigeru Ban, along with Tom Pritzker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Pritzker Organization, recently sat down with Charlie Rose to discuss the award’s meaning and legacy, and of course, the brilliant work of Shigeru Ban.  You can watch it above, and to learn more about why Shigeru Ban was chosen you can visit NPR.org, and watch Shigeru’s TED Talk below.  (Photo courtesy of Stephen Goodenough and Shigeru Ban Architects).
