Bible Blockbusters: Will Smith’s Biblical Vampire Tale, Aronofsky’s “Noah” Shoots, Spielberg & Scott Battle “Moses”

It’s by far the most powerful work of fiction ever written, yet for some reason Hollywood is just now catching on to the draw of the Bible‘s most epic make believe stories.  I’ve long been an admirer of Jesus and his life message of compassion and enlightenment, but the remaining embellished 99% of the Bible — especially the whole part about his Superdad having divine superpowers, the virgin birth, the parting of the Red Sea, etc. — well, it certainly makes for some incredible bedtime reading that’s for sure.  And some of Hollywood’s biggest names are about to send a huge wave of Christian blockbusters our way.

Earlier today The Playlist reported that Will Smith’s rumored Cain and Abel sibling rivalry film entitled The Redemption of Cain just got its green light from SONY.  It’s not yet clear whether this will be Will Smith’s directorial debut or if he will star or produce, but it looks like it’s definitely a go — and it has a vampire twist to boot.  Meanwhile up in Iceland, Darren Aronofsky is busy shooting his huge epic Noah, starring Russell Crowe as the famous boat builder with an obsession for opposite-sex animal pairings.

If that’s not enough, there is a holy trinity of Moses projects currently in embryonic stage right now: Warner Brothers’ Gods And Kings with Steven Spielberg potentially directing, Ridley Scott’s Moses film for Universal, and a little-known Moses pic developing over at FOX.  For more information on all these projects be sure to visit The Playlist.
