Ministry Of Design is an Asian architecture firm with offices in both Beijing and Shanghai, and their design for Vanke, China’s largest developer, instantly caught my eye. The building is known as the “Triple V” and it has a three-part program to function as a visitor’s center, a gallery, and a discussion lounge. The surrounding coastal setting of Tianjin, China was taken into careful consideration, not only for its tectonic form, but also for the weather-sensitive Corten steel which finishes the building’s exterior (with each passing day the cladding will develop the signature beautiful Corten orange hue), and timber strips comprise an interior shell/lining for a more natural, human feel (and the views are pretty damn amazing as well).
