The “Toda House” designed by Kimihiko Okada has to be one of the most striking examples of contemporary residential architecture I have seen in quite some time. Situated in Hiroshima, Japan, the Toda House was designed by Okada for a local family, and one glance at the following photos reveals what must be an incredibly dynamic environment to raise one’s children and build an extraordinary life. Try and imagine for a moment what living in a home like this would do for the imagination of a young child! Pure amazingness. Apart from the forward thinking nature of the design, the home puts me in mind of a seamless genetic hybrid between a mobius strip and the most important residential design in the history of modern architecture — Le Corbusier’s 1928 design of La Ville Savoie in the outskirts of Paris.
