This terrific barn-turned-home renovation in Remsenburg, New York, is something I could easily see myself slipping into in my golden years.  There are few things more beautiful than turning a rotting old building into something bold, fresh, and new, and in a way it serves as a brilliant metaphor for life in general: it’s never, ever, EVER too late to be the person you’ve always wanted to be (or in this case, the barn you’ve always wanted to be).  The reno was designed by Francis D’Haene, an interior designer at D’Apostrophe Design.  The client is actually one of D’Haene’s life-long friends, Vincent Herbert, going all the way back to when they were in sixth grade in Belgium (Herbert is the CEO of Le Pain Quotidien, a small chain of cafés, known for exceptional organic breads and café blends which is headquartered in New York City — evidently bread pays very well). A terrific design by D’Haene all around, complimented by a beautiful backyard swimming pool with a yoga studio made from refurbished 200-year-old barn boards.
