Lightning is an atmospheric discharge of electricity accompanied by thunder, which typically occurs during thunderstorms, and sometimes during volcanic eruptions or dust storms. In the atmospheric electrical discharge, a leader of a bolt of lightning can travel at speeds of 36,000 km/h (22,000 mph), and can reach temperatures approaching 30,000 °C (54,000 °F), hot enough to fuse silica sand into glass channels known as fulgurites which are normally hollow and can extend some distance into the ground. There are some 16 million lightning storms in the world every year (via http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bvmEYxEYiA&sns=em++

Harrison Krix is my hero. The difference between me and Harrison is that he actually builds what he dreams about. A visit to his own website is a must: http://www.volpinprops.blogspot.com/ Here is a clip of Harrison at work, and the process behind his Daft Punkesque helmet (also visit Harrison’s own blog for his Daft Punk journal: http://volpinprops.blogspot.com/2010/07/daft-punk-final.html). And brace yourself…this is amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0TBZeCgL0E
