Life can be stressful even at the best of times. People are working a lot more than they used to which means they generally have a lot less time to relax than their parents would have. It should also be noted that the average person spends an obscene amount of time using their mobile phone which adds to their stress. Studies show that mobile phone overuse can be very bad for people’s mental and physical health. If you have had a stressful week and want to unwind then this post will tell you about six things that you can do:

Cannabis Products

Cannabis is a plant that is known for helping people to relax. Individuals who suffer from stress disorders are often prescribed the drug by their doctors. You don’t have to have a stress disorder to make use of it, however; you can pick up CBDA gummies or even buy dried Cannabis flowers. CBD and CBDA gummies are better for individuals who’re not interested in getting high as they do not contain THC, the plant’s psychoactive compound. If you are planning on incorporating Cannabis or Cannabis products into your life make sure it is legal for you to do so in your state. Using the drug illegally can get you into a lot of trouble and while it might not result in your arrest it could lead to a fine being issued.

Regular Exercise

Exercise can be another great way of burning stress. A lot of people totally overlook the fact that as far as stress relief goes, exercise can be very effective. If you are planning on using exercise as a tool for combatting stress then you need to make sure that you pick an exercise you actually enjoy. A lot of young people today suffer from anxiety which makes exercising in public i.e., by going to the gym or signing up for sports clubs very difficult. If you suffer from an anxiety disorder then try to exercise at home or somewhere private. Make sure that whatever form of exercise you take up, it’s something that is good for you and appeals to you. Do not force yourself to do any kind of exercise. If you want to lift weights but do not feel confident going to the gym then you can perform calisthenics and strength exercises at home instead.

Improving Sleep

The quality of your sleep will have a massive impact on your mental health. A lot of people’s sleep is negatively impacted by their mobile phone overuse. If you are somebody who uses their mobile device too much then put it down an hour or so before bed. Studies show that people who use their phones in bed go to sleep overstimulated and cannot get the rest that they need. If you suffer from insomnia and it is unrelated to how often you use your mobile device reach out to your doctor and ask them for sleeping pills. It’s also important to try and eat a healthy diet and get lots of daily exercise in addition to taking sleeping pills. Sleeping pills can be very addictive so you should only use them as a temporary aid while you improve your sleep hygiene in other ways.

Trying Meditation

Meditation is an ancient practice that is an important part of religions like Buddhism, Jainism, and Hinduism. You do not have to be a particularly religious person to enjoy meditation, however. In fact, you do not even have to be spiritual. While it is true that the vast majority of people pursue meditation for spiritual purposes you don’t have to have any interest in the practice’s spiritual side to benefit from it. A good type of meditation for stress relief is mindfulness meditation, which is an integral part of Zen Buddhism, a type of Buddhism practiced primarily in Japan. If you are interested in meditation then there are a lot of guided videos you can use online. You can also just sit alone in your bedroom and do it without a guide’s help or support. Guided meditation is good for beginners but not essential.

Going Hiking

Hiking is an outdoor activity that can be done more or less anywhere. You do not need to have access to large national parks or even hiking trails to enjoy it. All you need is a good pair of shoes and access to rural areas. You can create your own hiking routes using maps of your area. If you are going to create your own walking routes then make sure that you do not cut through anybody’s property. Avoid trespassing as while this might not get you into trouble (as most landowners are sympathetic to hikers) it isn’t the polite thing to do. You can also go urban rambling which can be a lot of fun. You may even be able to find a walking club in your area which you might want to consider joining if, in addition to hiking, you are interested in making friends.

Enjoying Alcohol

Alcohol is a drug that can be used to relieve stress. At the same time, it’s also highly addictive and can cause more stress if misused. If you are planning on using alcohol to treat stress then you need to do so carefully. Make sure that you develop other strategies for managing stress so the alcohol doesn’t become a crutch. Relying too heavily on alcohol could lead to an addiction developing. If you are planning on drinking then make sure that you do so moderately. Too much alcohol can be very bad for your health. Specifically, it can damage your liver. If you are going to drink then it’s something best done in the company of friends. Drinking alone at home is unwise and can cause a lot of problems. Drinking with friends on the other hand can be a lot of fun and can be a great way to spend your time.

Everybody gets stressed out. If you have been feeling extremely stressed out recently then you might want to pursue the activities listed here. Trying new things can be a great way of making your life more exciting and overcoming any stress that you are experiencing.

I've been writing since 2008 about a wide range of topics. I also love making furniture in my spare time, and birdwatching with my wife near our home in southern England.
