Being in love and having a healthy relationship is something wondrous and unique. Not many are lucky enough to find their best friend and partner in the same person, so when you finally do, you always want to spoil your partner. If your partner is a woman, then bringing her gifts is a simple task. You have a wide variety of clothing, makeup, and you can always go with flowers and chocolates, or maybe even a gift card from her favorite spa and salon. While on the other hand, a never-dying question is, “what do I get my male partner?” Buying gifts for your male partner can seem like a daunting experience, but it’s not as challenging as you may think, especially if you’ve been together for quite some time and know each other well. If you’re thinking of what you can gift your partner, look no further, here’s what you need to do.

A Blast From The Past

Traveling back in time and getting your partner something nostalgic is both sentimental and memorable. When thinking about nostalgic memories, you will want to go back to old photos for reference. Scan the pictures for a watch or a pair of his favorite shades. You can always buy something identical or find a modernized version of the item. An easy way to do that is browsing online stores for gift ideas from the 90s or 2000s.

Another gift that will make his mind travel to the past is mixtapes. You can make him a mixtape of your favorite songs that you used to listen to together or some classics.

You could also print out pictures from your phone gallery and make a photo album;  start with baby pictures of both of you separately (or together if you go back that long) and go along until you reach your most recent pictures; it’s a really romantic trip down memory lane.

Finally, you can ask a family member if you have a family heirloom to give to him as a sign of true love and belongingness.

Look for Unconventional Items

Not that the generic gifts are bad, but thinking outside the box is always better. Finding a unique gift for your boyfriend, fiance or husband can be hard, but there are always options. There are a variety of manly gifts you can find online or in stores. But if you want something that is more intimate, you can always go for custom-made or handmade gifts. Memory books and love letters are always a well-thought-out gift option for your loved one. Giving him a box filled with his favorite snacks and candy bars is something he will really enjoy.

Go for Electronics

Since it’s 2021, you can always get away with getting him a PS5 if he’s a gamer. The new PS counsel is one of the items most talked about amongst gamers in general, not just men.  If your man already has a PS5, you can buy him new speakers to take his gaming experience to a whole new level. There are a variety of items that you can find in your local mall or online. You can also buy him a new phone or opt for a  smartwatch if he doesn’t already have one.

Ask His Friends And Make a List

If you’re struggling to find ideas, asking people close to him is always an option. Sneak a phone call to one of his best friends and they will have some suggestions. If they don’t already have ideas to give you, you can have them ask him indirectly for stuff he’s been wanting to get. If you have brothers or guy friends, you could also request their help; men can help you find something that your partner will enjoy if there’s nothing he specifically wants or needs. Try to make a list of things he wants or items he’s mentioned that he’s been meaning to buy but never got around to it. Make sure to keep a heads up on things he already purchased and to cross them off your list.

Think of His Hobbies

It was never a rule that gifts have to be tangible items. There is a range of things you can do or give your partner that are surely not going to end up in the gift drawer. Game tickets are something that your partner could really love and enjoy,  and he could still keep the tickets as a memory. If he’s a sports person, search for tickets for his favorite game and try to find good seats. Is his favorite singer or band in town? Concert tickets are another great option. A night full of dancing and singing will make a great memory, especially if you’re there with him.

If you have been trying to spend more time together and your partner likes to learn new things, you can always try signing up for a language class. It will be both fun and beneficial to the both of you. Plus, if your partner was stressed lately or wants to try something new you can always sign him up for a yoga class and you join him.

Spring is just around the corner, too, so going on a little picnic or an adventurous hike is a fun and memorable thing to do. An unforgettable trip to one of his favorite destinations is always an option, and you can include his favorite activities in the itinerary. If plan tickets and a vacation away are out of the budget, road trips are another fun option and it’s a great way to have some quality time together for a few days.

If you think about it, it’s not that hard to find a gift for your partner, you just have to think outside the box. You don’t have to always think materialistically about a gift, you just have to think of things that will have an important value to him. Even if you go with something generic at the end of the day, always try to add something intimate and meaningful to it, like a love letter, a drawing, or a DIY project that you know he’ll appreciate.

I've been writing since 2008 about a wide range of topics. I also love making furniture in my spare time, and birdwatching with my wife near our home in southern England.
