Well, it’s no secret that 2020 was kind of a bummer and a huge anticlimax. We’re still recovering from that tough year, but at least we survived, and there’s now more reason to feel hopeful about 2021. But, we aren’t out of the woods just yet, which is why we still need to think of creative ways to enjoy 2021 while remaining safe and at a social distance. Here are a few ways to make the most of 2021 with your bubble, and enjoy the relaxing of certain mandates.

Make the Most of Your Free Time

Most people are still working from home, or at least have a ton of free time due to the fact we aren’t going to concerts anymore or going out for dinner. The best way to make use of that free time is to step out of your comfort zone and learn something new. Maybe it can be a niche, artisanal skill such as silversmithing, pottery, or working on your writing. So many schools have gone online and are offering classes at more affordable prices than usual. All you need to do is log in, and learn something new and exciting. Or, you can simply devote your time to mastering difficult yoga moves, or work on becoming more athletic and take barre or pilates classes. There’s so much to discover and to learn that you might as well channel your creative energies and make the best use you can of the free time available.

Organize a Safe Trip

Many of us are suffering from a heightened sense of cabin fever at this point. Luckily, with the slow lifting of restrictions, better understanding of the virus, and of course, the emergence of the vaccine, we can start regaining a sense of normalcy. This is why it’s the perfect time to organize a trip. Even if you don’t want to wait till you’re fully vaccinated – although, of course, it is advisable – you can still plan for a trip to take immediately or book something for the upcoming months. Flights and hotels will actually get booked super quick. So, if you want to avoid this, you can start planning from now. Maybe you want the full getaway experience, or to spend a relaxing day or two at a full-service spa and in a room that is not your own. The offers at Limak International Hotels & Resorts, give you insight into the different options available. Taking time off will allow you to refocus your energies on yourself. This is one way to make 2021 a great year: think of creative getaways that you and your loved ones can enjoy.

Set Goals

Sure, you might still have a bit of free time left. But, you should also use it to mindfully set some goals for yourself. It doesn’t have to be something that highlights a hyper sense of productivity, but perhaps it could be mini-goals that you’d like to achieve while we are still hunkered down. Maybe you want to focus on setting up your finances in a different way and build a small nest egg for yourself. Or simply add more to your retirement plan. Your goal could also be working on that independent business you wanted to set up or putting together an Etsy store to show off your handmade goods. Whatever it is you had been hoping to accomplish, set a plan for yourself, and find ways to achieve that goal. Of course, be realistic, and don’t bite off more than you can chew. While it is important to be productive, it is equally important to be mindful of your capacity and not bite off more than you can chew. Use an intuitive productivity planner, or daily schedule to help you map out what you would like to do on a day to day, or even weekly basis. Goal setting in mini chunks will allow you to pursue your dream without feeling overwhelmed by it.

Find Creative Expression

So, you can pick up a new hobby, or marry your artistic interest with a more practical pursuit of setting up shop. However, you can – and should – simply find a creative outlet for yourself, just because. Blogging is a great way for you to share your ideas and connect with people in a healthy, creative way. Or, take up drawing, journaling, or put together a vision board. The point is, find new ways to be joyful and creative in 2021, and get yourself out of a rut without having to think only of specific outcomes or goals.

Things are far from perfect. However, we still have plenty of things to hope for in both 2021 and the coming year. Make the most out of the extra time we still have, and know that this tough time will eventually pass. After all, once people survived the Spanish flu of 1918, the roaring 20s came about and it seems that everyone got caught up in the fun. So, in the meanwhile, it pays to be creative and think of different outlets for yourself.

I've been writing since 2008 about a wide range of topics. I also love making furniture in my spare time, and birdwatching with my wife near our home in southern England.
