It’s no secret that Covid-19 has disrupted plans for most people. Trips have been cancelled, jobs have been quit, weddings have been postponed. Since this post will be dealing with honeymoons, let’s focus on that last point: the postponement of weddings. Many people postponed their weddings due to not being able to have all of their loved ones attend, and also due to the fact that they likely wouldn’t be able to go on honeymoon due to the travel restrictions. However, it seems that the pandemic will be sticking around a bit longer, so many people have decided to take the plunge anyway. While you may not be able to have your dream honeymoon, you can still make it a special time for you and your significant other. Here’s how.

Get away

You may not be able to get out of the country, but a change of scenery will be great. If you’re home during the honeymoon phase, you’ll likely always find things to do: the house needs to be cleaned, you need to go grocery shopping, you have work to do, etc., etc., etc. Remove yourself from your home, and these issues will likely disappear, leaving you to fully relax. You don’t need to go anywhere fancy, either. In fact, if you live in Toronto, you won’t need to go far at all, with these furnished apartments, Toronto.

Have a staycation

Of course, depending on where you live and your current situation, you may have no other choice than to stay at home. But if you stay at home, make it the best at-home honeymoon ever. How do you do that? You have a staycation. A staycation is an at home vacation, which means it’s the perfect opportunity for you to relax. This may sound boring, but there are actually a few things you can do during a staycation.

Explore

Most people have a full itinerary during their honeymoon. Every day, they have a bunch of activities to do and places to see. If a normal staycation sounds boring to you, why not create an itinerary? There are probably loads of local activities you haven’t tried, or places you haven’t seen. Take some time off work and get to know your partner and your hometown better each day. Just be sure to consider which activities are safe to do during this time.

Start planning and saving

Just because you can’t go on your dream holiday right now doesn’t mean you won’t ever be able to do it. No one knows what the future holds. Spending this time at home instead of on your extravagant honeymoon like you originally planned can actually be beneficial for you. You’ll be able to plan what you want your honeymoon to look like more in-depth. You’ll also be able to start saving ahead of time. This will give you something to look forward to. So, have a chat with your partner about what their ideal future honeymoon looks like. Paris? The Maldives? Hawaii? Once this has been determined, get to planning and saving!

I've been writing since 2008 about a wide range of topics. I also love making furniture in my spare time, and birdwatching with my wife near our home in southern England.
