Ray Villafane is an Arizona-based artist whom the Wall Street Journal has nicknamed “The Picasso Of Pumpkin Carving”. His specialty might be pumpkins, but Ray is also a master sculptor of action figures, toys, collectibles, snow sculptures — and sand sculptures. His latest sand masterpiece is this mindblowing work featuring an elephant and mouse playing chess. It’s without question one of the most impressive sand sculptures I have ever seen in my life. You can learn more about Ray’s work by visiting his studio at VillafaneStudios.com. (Sources: My Modern Met, Twisted Sifter, The Wall Street Journal; all photos courtesy of Ray Villafane)
