In Divorce, her brand new comedy series for HBO, Sarah Jessica Parker plays Frances, a woman who suddenly begins to reassess her life and her marriage, and finds that making a clean break and a fresh start is harder than she thought. Alongside her onscreen husband played by Thomas Haden Church, and costars Molly Shannon, Talia Balsam and Tracy Letts, Sarah Jessica Parker and HBO are bringing to life the very real struggles facing many couples out there right now. In a terrific new interview with Charlie Rose, Parker gives us a glimpse into the mind of Frances and the psychological mechanics of what happens to her character during the painful process. She explains how one moment in particular triggers a tipping point wake-up call for Frances, leading to her feeling what she describes as “marriage inertia” for the very first time. I’ve also attached a recent Facebook Live conversation with Sarah where she takes viewers’ questions about divorce. And no FEELguide story about marriage and infidelity would be complete without the brilliant TED Talk entitled Why Do We Cheat? from the world’s #1 marriage counselor, Esther Perel.
