Born in 1990 in Venezuela, DJ and producer ARCA released three EPs in 2012 on the UNO NYC label: Barón Libre, Stretch 1, and Stretch 2. His cutting edge debut caught the attention of pretty much everyone, and in 2013 Kanye West had him produce four of the songs on Yeezus. ARCA would go on to produce FKA Twigs’ EP2. He later self-released the &&&&& mixtape for free, and was involved in an audio-visual performance of &&&&& alongside visual artist Jesse Kanda at MoMA PS1 in October 2013. His debut album, Xen, was released on November 4, 2014 via Mute Records, and soon after he revealed he was co-producing all of Bjork’s next album, Vulnicura (January 2015), and even co-writing two of the tracks. One of the most in demand producers in the business, ARCA also happens to be gay, and because of my massive crush he also happens to be the freshest new addition to my long list of Future Husbands. Yesterday ARCA released the music video for “Vanity” from his upcoming new album, Mutant, which is set for release on November 20, 2015. In a press release he writes, “Mutant is about sensuality and impulsiveness as escape routes out of rigidity. Softness as a weapon when the mind attacks itself.” For all things ARCA be sure to follow him on Facebook, read his FADER cover story at, and visit his site at You can pre-order Mutant on iTunes.
