Susie Sie (born 1982) is a Berlin-based artist, director, editor, and director of photography whose work explores the intersection between art and science. Using only her camera and analog techniques, Sie says she’s “on a mission to explore the physical and mathematical nature of unusual forms, substances and materials to show the hidden beauty and magic of our natural world that constantly surrounds us.”
One beautiful example of her discoveries can be found in her newest video entitled “Soundscapes” where she captured the extraordinary beauty of flowing ink in stunning video close-ups using her Canon 5D camera and 100mm macro lens. Watching the video, it’s almost as if she’s captured images from a secret hidden world. Perhaps Roald Dahl said it best: “And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
