Amy Poehler (born September 16, 1971) has become America’s sweetheart in every sense of the word. After years of working the comedy scene in Chicago, Amy debuted on Saturday Night Live a mere two weeks after 9/11. A bittersweet launch by anyone’s standards, but especially for Poehler who recently paid a visit to Charlie Rose‘s round oak table where she said deep down she always knew she would end up on the legendary variety show one day. I always thought I had a good sense of what made Amy Poehler tick, but after watching this conversation with Rose, every assumption I thought I knew about Amy was blown to smithereens. Turns out, Amy is not only the goofball adorable comic we’ve come to know and love — she’s so much more than that. By the end of the interview my love and respect for Amy Poehler had quadrupled. All the more reason for me to run out and grab a copy of her brand new book Yes Please (Amazon).
