Louisa May Alcott once wrote, ““Some people seemed to get all sunshine, and some all shadow.”  Artist Anila Quayyum Agha is one person who gets both.  Her brilliant installation work, entitled “Intersections”, recently stole the show at the ArtPrize international art competition where she was awarded a historic double-win: $200,000 for the Public Vote Grand Prize, as well as $100,000 for the Juried Grand Prize.  With a single light bulb inside the cube of laser-cut panels, the shadows reveal a fascinating intersection of both Islamic art and architecture.  “[My] project takes the seminal experience of exclusion as a woman from a space of community and creativity,” she tells The Creators Project.  “[It] translates the complex expressions of both wonder and exclusion.”  You can learn more abotu Anila and here work HERE.
