Music is a powerful force, and carries with it a remarkable ability to unite the most unlikely people under one roof. Take, for example, the Judson Manor retirement community in Cleveland, Ohio which houses 100 senior residents — and one 24-year-old music student. In exchange for free rent in a beautiful building, all this young music student has to provide in return is one monthly musical performance for the residents. It’s a beautiful story from Steve Hartman of CBS Sunday Morning, and you can watch it in full above. It reminds me of the powerful documentary Alive Inside which provides a fascinating insight into the healing power of music in seniors who are suffering from Alzheimer’s.
