Music is a powerful force, and carries with it a remarkable ability to unite the most unlikely people under one roof.  Take, for example, the Judson Manor retirement community in Cleveland, Ohio which houses 100 senior residents — and one 24-year-old music student.  In exchange for free rent in a beautiful building, all this young music student has to provide in return is one monthly musical performance for the residents.  It’s a beautiful story from Steve Hartman of CBS Sunday Morning, and you can watch it in full above.  It reminds me of the powerful documentary Alive Inside which provides a fascinating insight into the healing power of music in seniors who are suffering from Alzheimer’s.  You can watch the trailer below, and to see when and where the film is playing near you be sure to visit AliveInside.us.
