New Video For Electric Youth’s “Innocence” Is Guilty Of Making No Sense, But Judge For Yourself

I’m the first to praise a music video director’s use of ambiguity and abstraction, but Electric Youth‘s new video for “Innocence” is testing my patience.  Opening with a promising slow zoom into a cityscape and a levitating woman surrounded by an orb of pink plasma, the video then takes a turn towards disappointment when it pulls back into a living room where a young boy walks through a kitchen and peeks through a key hole to find two people sitting on a bed.  Welcome to the first video of this year’s Yawn Fest 2014.  I’m not sure who directed this mess, but they nearly killed one of my favorite tracks of the year.  Whoever it is, perhaps they should have taken more inspiration from M83’s “Wait”, King Creosote & Jon Hopkins’ “Bats In The Attic (Unravelled)”, or James Blake’s “Lindisfarne”.  Lesson learned I hope.  You can follow Electric Youth on Facebook and Twitter.
