Nestled in a private 80-acre citrus fruit orchard in Somersby, Australia, roughly a 1-hour drive north of Sydney, is the stunning Wirra Willa pavilion guest house. Built as a compliment to the main residence nearby, the small pavilion home is used as a private and remote spa house and guest retreat for those lucky enough to be invited by the family. The site was specifically chosen to connect the visitor the exquisite natural setting and numerous gardens that are found throughout the large property. Its north-east orientation allows the sun to pour in during the cooler months, and also perfectly captures the prevailing winds in the warmer months as the home becomes a breeze tunnel when the sliding glass panels are opened for cross-ventilation. You can learn more about the designers by visiting Matthew Woodward Architecture, and be sure to also watch a fascinating slideshow showing the home’s construction process by CLICKING HERE.
