Cunning Lingus: Researchers Discover The Two Main Reasons Why Women Fake Orgasms So Often

The fake orgasm has become so commonplace in our modern sexual vocabulary that we tend to forget how peculiar and downright strange this sexual custom truly is. What exactly is one gaining by pretending to peak? The overwhelming majority of women admit they have faked their orgasms, and now new research has unlocked the mystery of this deceptive sexual behavior. As it turns out, the act of faking an orgasm is both a conscious and unconscious one.

In a scientific paper soon to be published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, researchers Farnaz Kaighobadi, Todd K. Shackelford, and Viviana A. Weekes-Shackel studied 453 women in long-term heterosexual relationships to see if they could unlock the mysterious function of the fake orgasm. The study analyzed three metrics: A) the extent to which each woman had faked orgasms and sexual arousal; B) the perceived “likelihood of infidelity” that each woman felt for their sexual partner; and C) the Mate Retention Inventory (MRI), which consisted of 104 items to measure the five different types of strategies for mate retention. Through careful analysis of the data, the researchers determined two major theories why women consciously and unconsciously fake their orgasms. REASON #1: The likelihood of faking was positively correlated to infidelity risk (p < .001). In other words, women who felt insecure about their partner’s loyalty were more likely to fake sexual arousal/orgasm. REASON #2: The likelihood of faking was positively correlated to each of the five MRI measures (all p-values less than 0.05). Women who engage in a wide range of mate retention tactics (ostensibly because they are likely to feel insecure in the relationship) are more likely to fake orgasms.

So guys, the biggest take-home from the study concludes that your girlfriends and wives are faking their orgasms for much more than the fact that you’re probably not the greatest in bed — they are doing it because they not 100% convinced about your loyalty to her.
