As TV Equals wrote earlier this week: “‘VICE’ magazine is bringing its no-holds-barred style of journalism to HBO this April. The news series will tell in-depth stories from all around the world, covering everything from political assassinations in the Philippines to interviews with child suicide bombers to smaller stories like the sumo/mixed martial artscraze in Senegal. Bill Maher, Shane Smith and Eddy Moretti serve as executive producers.”  Founded in Montreal in 1994 as a free monthly culture magazine called Voice of Montreal, VICE has been based out of New York for the past ten years.  Earlier today The Montreal Gazette profiled VICE co-founder Suroosh Alvi, who revealed his excitement for the series: “For our brand, it’s a very important moment.  It’s the culmination of years of work and building and learning.  And HBO is just a great home for us.  We can be ourselves, say what we want to say, do what we want to do.”  You can read the full profile by visiting MontrealGazette.com, and check out VICE‘s home page on HBO.com.  VICE premieres Friday, April 5th at 11pm on HBO.
