Sitting atop a half-rural, half-urban hillside in Stuttgart, Germany is “The Twist House” designed by Amsterdam-based architecture firm UNStudio. The functional program of the home’s design and its spaces are hinged to its central spiral core known as “the twist”. Each of the curves that emanate from the spiral are determined by carefully considered diagonal movements, and each of the spaces of the home are perfectly placed to track the motion of the sun throughout the day (i.e. a sunny morning kitchen, and a living room filled with magic hour light in the evening).
