Montreal’s alien love child of Aphex Twin and ABBA just released her own self-directed video for the amazingness that is “Genesis” off her critically acclaimed album Visions. Rightfully so, GRIMES didn’t want just anybody to give visual birth to her exquisite song, so she took on the role of director and created the video herself in order to perfectly capture and translate the spirit of “Genesis” onto film. The end result has GRIMES’ irresistible fingerprints all over it, and is a perfectly bizarro drop from the mind of one of music’s most exciting new artists. Never one to be put in a box or genre, GRIMES describes her work as “ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) music”, which is apparent in its frequent and dramatic shifts. “I go through phases a lot,” she recently told W Magazine. Her work has been likened to various artists, including Björk and Enya, and The Guardian summated her musical style as such: “By sounding a little like everything you’ve ever heard, the whole sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard.” To pick up your own copy of GRIMES’ must-have album Visions simply head over to iTunes.
