A very well-placed source with The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that pop icon Britney Spears’ agents are entering the final stages of contract negotiations to co-host THE X FACTOR alongside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.  The deal is being crafted and spearheaded by her fiancé and head agent Jason Trawick, and could be signed as early as next week.  Reports surfaced recently about Spears’ potential involvement with the show and the same THR insider reveals it was Cowell who approached Spears with the offer.  Spears is signed to Sony Music’s RCA Records, which absorbed her original label Jive in 2011 and has exclusive music rights to THE X FACTOR artists.  To prepare for the seat alongside judges Cowell and Epic Records chairman L.A. Reid, Spears is undergoing extensive media training to prepare for the dynamics and matrices of live television.  If the deal is secured, a fourth and final judge will also be revealed in the coming weeks as well as two new hosts who will be American.  THR could not reach Spears’ representative for comment, and representatives for both THE X FACTOR and FOX refused to confirm or comment.  To learn about the audition process for season 2 of THE X FACTOR you can visit TheXFactorUSA.com.  Spears’ involvement with the show will be the most high profile signing of Simon Cowell’s career in television, and will easily provide a gigantic ratings boost as well as a much-needed presence of a successful and established artist in order to bring some validity to the panel.  THE X FACTOR is produced by Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America. Simon Cowell, Rob Wade and Siobhan Greene are executive producers for Syco Television. Cecile Frot-Coutaz, Richard Holloway and Andrew Llinares serve as executive producers for FremantleMedia North America.
