In conjunction with London Design Week 2011, UK-based designer Simon Hasan has unveiled three of his newest creations.  Hasan has been chosen as one of four “designers in residence”, a program held each year by the Design Museum, whose mandate is to encourage the growth and development of bold and promising new designers.  Hasan’s brilliance is unquestionable when you take a look at the following examples of his work, such as his formed/hardened leather seats atop these cast aluminum frames.  Next up is his incredible boiled leather vase (yes, “boiled leather” is now my newest obsession — I’m picturing my entire bedroom sheathed in boiled leather walls) with mirror-polished brass (see third image below, to the right of the single cubist mannequin).  Hasan has also been collaborating with FENDI recently, with his development of these cubism icon George Braque-inspired mannequins.  Each mannequin is a mix of tightly-formed leather with refined panes of gold and palladium gilding.  WOOOOOW.
