There are songs, and then there are Songs.  And Gotye‘s track “Somebody That I Used To Know” most certainly deserves the capital letter recognition.  I discovered it while listening to ISO50‘s latest playlist, and from the first play I was beyond smitten.  Gotye is the moniker of Wouter “Wally” De Backer (born May 21, 1980), a Belgian-Australian multi-instrumental musician and singer-songwriter.  He has released three studio albums independently and one remix album featuring remixes of tracks from his first two albums. De Backer is also one-third of Melbourne indie-pop band The Basics.  I think I’ve listened to this song at least 30 times today and it shows no signs of wearing thin.  It’s absolute perfection.  You can follow Gotye on MySpace, Facebook, and his website Gotye.com. Gotye just released his brand new album Making Mirrors on August 19 and to pick up your own copy be sure to visit iTunes. Amaaaaaaaaaazing.
