Hans Zimmer Discusses The Secrets Of The INCEPTION Score With The New York Times

I absolutely love Hans Zimmer.  I really flipped for him during “The Dark Knight” with his rhythmic pounding horns and bass.  It was the cherry on top of a perfect film.  Low and behold, he goes and outdoes himself on “INCEPTION”.  My current obsession also happens to be Edith Piaf, so his decision to use her iconic song “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” as the anchor for ‘The Kick’ (the bouncing back from the dream world into the real world) was as if he slipped a ring onto my wedding finger.  The article is fantastic (http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/28/hans-zimmer-extracts-the-secrets-of-the-inception-score/) as well as the video link below.  In the video you will see how Zimmer uses the horns of “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” (reduced in speed) as the structure for the most powerful moments of score in the film:
