On July 6th, 1981, Ronald Reagan wrote in his diary: “Called Judge O’Connor and told her she was my nominee for Supreme Court. Already the flak is starting and from my own supporters.” On September 21, 1981 Sandra Day O’Connor was sworn in as the very first woman to server on the United States Supreme Court, and the rest is history. In honor of International Women’s Day I thought it perfectly fitting to share with you this extraordinary interview between Charlie Rose and Justice O’Connor, where she talks about her life’s journey and her brand new book entitled Out of Order: Stories from the History of the Supreme Court. As the saying goes, “Teach a man, and you teach a man. Teach a woman, and you teach a generation.” It would be hard to imagine a more perfect example of this than the one and only Sandra Day O’Connor.
