Dreaming about a beach vacation? Most people think of places like the Costa Del Sol and Tenerife when thinking about beach holidays, but you might be surprised at the beaches that the UK has to offer. There are actually dozens of beautiful beaches in the UK and, on a warm summer’s day, are just as good if not better than the more exotic beaches around the world. Additionally, they are easier and cheaper to visit. So, what are the best beaches in the UK?

Porthcurno Beach, Cornwall

Obviously, Cornwall is one the best places to head if you are looking for a beach holiday in the UK. There are many great options, but Porthcurno Beach is somewhat of a hidden gem as a small beach with stunning turquoise waters and white sand. This is the beach where Poldark was filmed – it is certainly easy to see why!

Bamburgh Beach, Northumberland

The beautiful coastline in the northeast of England is criminally overlooked, but this does mean that it is a great area if you are looking for peace and quiet on your beach holiday. Bamburgh Beach is a gorgeous 1.5-mile beach with the amazing 11th-century castle as a backdrop. You might even get lucky and see dolphins, seals and puffins in the area!

Wallberswick Beach, Suffolk

Another peaceful beach that is the perfect spot on a warm day is Wallberswick Beach in Suffolk. It can feel like your own little world as it is hidden by the grassy dunes and is much quieter than the neighbouring Southwold across the river. Wallbersick is also a short stroll from a quaint village with a great selection of cosy pubs and restaurants with fantastic, fresh seafood.

Pentle Bay, Scilly Isles

With the Scilly Isles, you get the feeling of going abroad for a holiday but without leaving the UK. Pentle Bay is a stunning beach that has an almost tropical feel with azure waters contrasting against the pristine white sand. The water is also surprisingly warm for swimming and it can be a great spot for water sports or simply chilling on the beach.

Valley of the Rocks, Devon

Devon is another great area for beach (and nature) lovers and an ideal area for motorhome vacations with many parks to choose from, but be sure to arrange your insurance with Comfort Insurance. You have many choices in terms of beautiful beaches, but Valley of the Rocks takes the prize for its jaw-dropping views, particularly the sunsets that you can experience here – it is hard to believe that you are in England!

This post should give you a few ideas for beach holidays that you can enjoy without the hassle and cost of leaving the country. The beaches in the UK are often overlooked, but you will be surprised at just how beautiful they are particularly if you get lucky with the weather!

I've been writing since 2008 about a wide range of topics. I also love making furniture in my spare time, and birdwatching with my wife near our home in southern England.
