Many people are opting for a staycation this year due to the coronavirus pandemic which has made travel much harder, but there are many fantastic places all over the UK that can provide a fantastic holiday and at a fraction of the cost. So, what are a few of the best places in the UK for a holiday this year?

Brighton

Many people head abroad to be by the sea, but Brighton is just one of the many excellent seaside destinations in the UK and somewhere that is perfect for a holiday. In addition to the beach, Brighton also has a laidback atmosphere and is filled with independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants so there is much more to it than just the beach.

London

London is obviously one of the first places that springs to mind as it has so much to offer any visitor. There are endless attractions and highlights here and is currently much quieter than usual with people working remotely which makes it slightly more relaxing. You can also get a train ticket to London from just about anywhere which makes it easily accessible from all over the country.

Bath

Bath is one of the prettiest cities in all of the UK with many cultural and historical highlights to discover so there is something for everyone. Not only this, but due to its location in Somerset, you are also surrounded by natural beauty so you can easily escape the city and enjoy the great English countryside too.

Edinburgh

It is hard to choose just one Scottish destination, but the capital of Edinburgh is a popular staycation destination and it is easy to see why. It is filled with historic sights, cool cultural highlights and surrounded by nature so it is somewhere that ticks all of the boxes and is quite unlike anywhere else in the UK.

Pembrokeshire

Nature lovers will adore Pembrokeshire which is one of the most overlooked destinations in the UK which means that it is usually quite quiet too. The Coast Path is the only true coastal national park with 186 miles of trails to explore, so if you like walking, being by the sea and being surrounded by nature then this could be the places for you.

These are a few of the best places for a staycation in the UK but there are many other great places to consider too. The UK has something for everyone whether you are looking for a city break, trip by the sea or nature-based holiday and it can be much easier and more affordable than going overseas.
