It all began back in 1996. That’s when plans for The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) were first initiated, and now twenty years later we are only two years away from its launch. When it’s in orbit the JWST will make the Hubble Space Telescope look like amateur hour. The journey of the $8 billion JWST has not always been easy. Many times through the years the ballooning budget almost died on the floor of Congress (it was originally supposed to cost $4.5 billion). Now all these years later we are nearing its 2018 launch, and just this week its eighth and final gold mirror was installed — a huge milestone for one of the most complex projects in astronomical history. For everything you need to know about the James Webb Space Telescope CLICK HERE.
