In a paper published just last week entitled “Live Texturing of Augmented Reality Characters from Colored Drawings“, the wizards at Disney Research™ unveiled their advances in the cutting-edge world of augmented reality. “Coloring books capture the imagination of children and provide them with one of their earliest opportunities for creative expression,” write the authors. “However, given the proliferation and popularity of digital devices, real-world activities like coloring can seem unexciting, and children become less engaged in them. Augmented reality holds unique potential to impact this situation by providing a bridge between real-world activities and digital enhancements.”

Recently I posted the incredible new PBS American Experience documentary on the life of Walt Disney. The 3-hour and 40-minute film provides the viewer with an unprecedented look at the life and legacy of one of America’s most enduring and influential storytellers, and tells the story of how a cartoon-obsessed little boy went on to completely transform American culture, and most importantly the modern concept of the American dream at large. The film is a remarkable tour-de-force, and you can watch it in full by CLICKING HERE. (source: My Modern Met)
