Most of the time illusions come in the optical variety, but not this one. Although I’m sure there is a simple explanation to be found somewhere, this 13-second audio illusion will leave you scratching your head — and your ears. When you press play you will hear an escalating series of 14 notes, but the illusion begins when you press repeat and the notes appear to continue getting higher and higher like a staircase that never ends.
