Back in 1975 a young and gorgeous 26-year-old Meryl Streep was on the cusp of getting her very first role in a Hollywood feature.  She was seen in a play by the son of iconic producer Dino De Laurentiis Sr., and Jr. convinced his father to meet the talented young actress in person for a possible role in Sr.’s remake of King Kong. Streep recently sat down with Graham Norton where she told the story of what happened next. Gulp. Needless to say, she didn’t get the role in King Kong — it was given to another up-and-coming actress of the same age named Jessica Lange.
