A couple years ago my nephew was like a kid in a candy store when he got his very first GoPro camera. This was the first time I had ever heard of the camera, but I knew it was a big deal judging from my nephew’s level of excitement. From then on, GoPro has become a giant in the world of recreational videography. The company was founded by Nick Woodman (born June 24, 1975) when he went to Australia and wanted to jimmy together a camera he could wear on his wrist as he surfed. And the rest, ladies and gentlemen, is history. In 2004 Nick made his first big sale at a trade show when a Japanese company bought 100 of his cameras. Fast forward to 2014 and Forbes pegs Nick Woodman’s net worth at a whopping $4.7 billion.
