The WOW Files: Watch The Amazing Pinot Noir Documentary “The Holy Grail Of Wine” Online

Yesterday I happened to be watching PBS when the first few minutes of the documentary The Holy Grail Of Wine began to air.  In that brief moment I was instantly hooked, and for the next hour I was treated to one of the most compelling wine documentaries I’ve seen in as long as I can remember.  The film tracks the history of the most prized wine on Earth — the famed Pinot Noir — and how it has challenged winemakers for thousands of years.  From its beginnings in France, to its discovery by the Romans, The Holy Grail Of Wine soon turns to the story of Clouds Rest Vineyards in California’s Sonoma Coast region.  It’s here where an unlikely rocky hilltop became the site of one man’s dream to craft his own Pinot Noir.  Ignoring the advice of local experts who told him to forget about his dream due to the adverse set of environmental factors that plagued the small area, owner John Saemann forged ahead and made his dream come true — and then some — to create one of America’s premier Pinot Noirs.  It’s an absolutely fascinating film and is a must-see for any wine lover.  As for myself, I’m almost exclusively a white wine drinker (Sauvignon Blanc being my favorite), but after watching The Holy Grail Of Wine I can’t wait to get my own bottle of Pinot Noir from the Clouds Rest Vineyards in California.  To learn more about the amazingness that is Clouds Rest be sure to visit CloudsRest.com, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
