If you tune into tonight’s welterweight title bout, take an extra close look at 37-year-old boxer Floyd Mayweather because you will be watching someone well on his way to becoming the boxing world’s very first billionaire.  But how did Floyd “Money” Mayweather get so damn rich?  As Joe Favorito, professor of sports marketing at Columbia University, explains to CBS This Morning, it has everything to do with Mayweather having surrounded himself with smart money managers.  For tonight’s fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas against Marcos Maidana, for instance, Mayweather will take home a guaranteed $32 million.  Last year, Mayweather topped Sports Illustrated‘s annual list of the world’s richest athletes with an annual income of more than $90 million.  (Photo courtesy of The New York Times).
