Within each of us are two selves, suggests David Brooks in this meditative short talk: the self who craves success, who builds a résumé, and the self who seeks connection, community, love — the values that make for a great eulogy.  Can we balance these two selves?  Perhaps, once we know them both.  You can watch David’s TED Talk above, as well as his appearance last week on Charlie Rose below where he elaborates on his philosophies, and also shares a brilliant letter he received from a man named Dave Jolly who recently reached out to him.  “What the wise person says is the smallest part of what he is,” writes Jolly.  “The message is the person.”  (Photo courtesy of Allie Krause).
