President Jimmy Carter Talks “A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence & Power” With Charlie Rose

President Jimmy Carter recently sat down with Charlie Rose to discuss his new book A Call To Action: Women, Religion, Violence, And Power.  During the interview, Carter compares how 6,000,000 Jews were killed by Hitler during WWII in the largest concentrated genocide of the past century, while 25 TIMES THAT MANY girls have been killed by their parents around the world.  The murder and suffering of women and girls worldwide is the greatest violation of human rights on Earth, as Carter wisely points out.  The end result of this many murders and abortions (which occur when parents in China, India, and other nations, are disappointed because their newborn is not a boy) is a shortage of brides for men to marry, which thereby leads to human trafficking.  The U.S. State Department, Carter adds, is required by law to measure the amount of slavery that exists worldwide.  It is estimated that 800,000 people are sold and trafficked each year — 80% of these victims being women and girls.  100,000 of these “transactions” occur in Atlanta — the world’s busiest airport — which serves as an access point to Central and South America.  This human trafficking network has created the greatest level of slavery the world has ever known — even greater than it was during the 19th century.  The modern slave trade is estimated to be worth more than $32 billion each year.  You can watch the interview in full above, and purchase your own copy of Jimmy Carter’s A Call To Action: Women, Religion, Violence, And Power on Amazon.
