When Sister Rosetta Tharpe (1915-1973) arrived in Manchester, England in 1964 she wasn’t about to let a little bit of rain stop her from putting on a powerhouse of a show. As soon as she steps off her horse chariot in her iconic white coat and famous guitar, and walks to her train stations stage, she shows everyone exactly why she is the Godmother of Rock & Roll.
