Even though Erlend Oye released his highly addictive single “La Prima Estate” back in July 2013, for some reason I’m just discovering it now.  The video was released a few weeks later, and was filmed by Marcin Öz and Gabriele Galanti in Siracusa Sicily.  In 2012 Erlend Oye moved from Norway to Italy, and it didn’t take him long to discover the goldmine of Italian music of the 1960s and 70s.  His music became instantly inspired by the life and rich culture of the region, and he even started learning enough Italian in his new hometown of Siracusa — as he demonstrates in his lyrics for “La Prima Estate”.  The song is a tribute to his friend Lucia and her graduation day.  You can pick up your own copy of the single on iTunes, visit his site at TheWhitestBoyAlive.com, and follow him on Facebook.
