Beau Willimon is the 36-year-old showrunner, lead writer, and executive producer of Netflix’s award-winning series House Of Cards, based on the acclaimed eponymous British miniseries.  In a recent feature profile in TIME magazine, columnist Lily Rothman reads the tea leaves of Willimon’s life as a means of decoding and understanding the DNA of the series.

Rothman writes: “Those who only know Willimon as the man who created the show for Netflix [are missing out], since his life story is basically a laundry list of experiences that you won’t believe all happened to the same guy.  And, he says, those disparate experiences have all helped make ‘House of Cards’ what it is.”  You can read the entire fascinating story by visiting TIME.com, and learn more about Willimon’s life story at HollywoodReporter.com.

Willimon recently sat down with Charlie Rose where he discusses the show’s success and journey, and you can watch it in full above.  When you’re finished be sure to skip to the 38:11 mark for an interview with filmmaker Matthew Barney (who also happens to be Bjork‘s husband).  Watch as Barney (in all his rugged, sexy handsomeness!) discusses his new 7-part opera which he created with composer composer Jonathan Bepler, and recently premiered on February 12th at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.  Entitled River of Fundament, the opera is loosely based on Norman Mailer’s 1983 novel Ancient Evenings.  Barney began work on the project in 2006.  (Photo courtesy of House Of Cards on Facebook).
