Benoit Mandelbrot is the brilliant mathematician famous for having developed a “theory of roughness” in nature, as well as teh field of fractal geometry to prove it.  Known as the Father of Fractals, Mandelbrot had a chance to discuss his life work with filmmaker Errol Morris in a documentary which is part of IBM’s Big Brains, Small Films series.  You can watch the short doc above, and take sombre note that Mandelbrot passed away a mere 19 days after taping this interview with Morris.
