There are songs — and then there are Songs.  SQUAREPUSHER’s transcendent masterwork “Toomib”, which was featured on his 2001 masterpiece album Go Plastic, most certainly qualifies as the latter.  During the album’s composition and production, SQUAREPUSHER (a.k.a. Tom Jenkinson) recalls that “Tommib” was so named thanks to his collaborator Aphex Twin: “Aphex Twin was helping me edit a track for Vic Acid and he named the project ‘Tommib’ and I always remembered that for some reason.”  The rest is history, and the stunning piece of music was later immortalized in Sofia Coppola’s remarkable 2003 film Lost In Translation, starring Bill Murray as a faded movie star and Scarlett Johansson as a neglected young wife, who together form an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo.  Lost in her hotel room thoughts, high above the skyline of Tokyo, Johansson looks out towards the endless skyline beyond as she wrestles with questions of love, friendship, meaning, and her place in the world at large.
